Newbie with questions...

Hello all. Today I ran across a 1/5th scale at a flea market. After some haggling, I bought it and brought it home. I have no idea if it is MCD or if it is FS Racing. Is there a way to tell? Does it matter? Also, one of the lower arms are broken, and I cant seem to find a place to get parts. Oh, the engine is a 30cc. It is 2wd but looks like 4wd would be pretty easy to add.

Anyways, any insight would be greatly appreciated. I've been driving nitro for about 15 years now, so this is new to me, but having 6 acres should make it very fun!

Open up an account with imageshack or photobucket and you can upload them there. then you just link the images and they show up here.

There are many different sorts of 1/5 car, but it is fairly easy to tell them apart. Some parts are compatable with other machines, and it should be possible to source what you need to get it going.

FS are basically cloned copies of the older MCD cars, so parts from older MCD models will fit in a lot of cases. They are still making cars, so parts should be buyable for them. If it's 2WD, it probably isn't going to be cost effective to make it 4WD, as you will end up needing to spend a fair bit of cash to install drive/diff etc to the front end.

That looks very much like an FS Monster Truck with the shell missing to me. The FS is a clone of the early Race Runner/ MT cars. The side skirt with the gear cutout fills the gap left by the shell sides. Would have looked like this :

These were available in 2WD as well as 4WD, and if they kept the transmission true to the copy and it had a locked centre diff, all you would need to do would be to replace the front end with the appropriate parts from the 4WD. MCD parts would probably fit, as I think they were based on the EVO2 or earlier....but it would be an expensive upgrade!

It doesn't look to be in too bad a shape overall, and certainly worth what you paid. Have you got the rest of it? Front wheel, shell etc?

It came complete with all the running gear...minus the charger for the battery pack. Didn't come with a body, and one of the  lower front arms is broken. Other than that, the engine runs really strong. The tires have hardly any wear on them. Makes me wonder how much run-time on it...especially considering there's only 2 or 3 scratches on the bottom of it.

Pretty sure Evo2 parts fit if you can't get FS, so getting the suspension arm fixed should be easy enough.

Been playing around with it, just gotta be gentle or the arm pops off the joint. Where's a good place to order parts from?
